What happened
The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has designated Prosegur Australia Pty Ltd under the Cash Distribution Framework Act 2026, according to media release 2026-31, issued on 5 November 2026 UTC.
The designation brings the company into the Cash Distribution Framework. That makes it a regulated entity under the Act, with obligations aimed at supporting a sustainable, resilient and efficient cash distribution system in Australia.
Linfox Armaguard Pty Limited (Armaguard) owns Prosegur Australia in full. Armaguard itself was designated under the Act on 3 September 2026.

How the decision was made
The Act requires the RBA to consult the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) before designating a business, under subsection 16(1). The RBA says it consulted the ACCC, and also Prosegur Australia, before making the designation.
The RBA has published a Legislative Instrument and an Explanatory Statement with further details.
What it means for you
For most readers, there is no direct change. The designation applies to a company in the cash distribution chain, not to individuals or bank customers. The framework’s stated aim is a cash system that keeps working reliably.
Indians living in Australia who handle cash in daily life are not affected by anything stated in the release.
Background
The Cash Distribution Framework Act 2026 sets up a regulatory regime for firms involved in distributing cash in Australia. Designation is the step that places a firm under that regime. Armaguard was designated on 3 September 2026, and the RBA has now extended the regime to its subsidiary, Prosegur Australia.
