What it means for you
If you hold a loan from Bajaj Finance or are comparing lenders, the key figure is asset quality, which shows how many borrowers are falling behind. Gross non-performing assets (NPAs), meaning loans where repayments are badly overdue, were 1.06% on 30 September, up from 0.96% in the June quarter. Net NPAs rose to 0.42% from 0.39%.
Both ratios were still lower than a year earlier, when gross NPA was 1.24% and net NPA was 0.60%.
The amount set aside for loan losses and provisions was ₹2,166 crore, 4% more than a year ago. That figure includes ₹337 crore kept aside for management and macroeconomic risks. Leaving that out, the amount was ₹1,829 crore, a 12% fall. Measured against average assets under finance, the loan loss ratio improved to 1.56% from 1.88% a year earlier, or 1.32% without the extra provision.
